The run or the base number is 12 inches. Keep in mind that the higher the pitch the steeper the roof. One of the most requested designs in manufactured homes and tiny homes is a mono slope or single slope roof line. Roof slopes between 4 12 and 6 12 are best for minimizing the wind uplift effects in high wind zones.

The rise will be the elevation change over the 12 inches. I hem the 6 inch edge and the 1 2 inch drip bend to stiffen the flashing and minimize oil canning when it expands. I adjust the angle between the roof and drop legs to match the slope of the roof. For example a slope of 6 12 means for every 12 inches of horizontal distance the slope of the roof will rise 6 inches vertically.

Lap mono slope sheds it s hard to be more modern than the mono slope shed paired with lap siding. Pitches above 9 12 are very highly angled and are designated steep slope roofs. Pitches of less than 2 12 are considered flat roofs even though they may be very slightly angled. Standard sizing calls for a 6 inch wide roof leg and a 4 inch drop leg with a 1 2 inch drip bend at the bottom.

The most commonly used roof pitches fall in a range between 4 12 and 9 12. Pitches lower than 4 12 have a slight angle and they are defined as low slope roofs.
